My Games
If you've landed on this page somehow, I'm sure you've had a quick scan and are already disappointed with its contents.
The following games are the result of my tinkering with game creation over the years on various computers.
I am well aware of their quality.
I really don't care.
I enjoy it.

Styx
Styx.zip (2020 4mb)
A remake of Matthew Smith's first released game of the same name. Guide your hero, Stig, through the labyrinth and river before coming face to face with the Grim Reaper himself.
There's an easter egg in this game. If you shoot the odd looking brick (towards the bottom left of the screen) you'll get a glimpse of the original 1983 game.
Created during the Coronavirus lockdown with Gamemaker.

Classic Space Invaders
ClassicSpaceInvaders.zip. (2007 2mb)
I tried to replicate the feel for the original Space Invaders arcade game on this one. To a certain extent I think I succeeded, but there are a few issues concerning bullet speed, visibility, graphics, etc.
As ever, I think I got bored before I thoroughly polished it up and checked it for bugs, etc., but at least the number of shots you had to fire off before the UFO appears is the same as the original.

Manic Tobo
ManicTobo (2007 1mb)
An old-school foray into the classic platform games of old. Run / jump / avoid / collect, etc. Different blocks had different effects - conveyor belts, springy, collapsing blocks, etc.
A terrifying 5 or 6 screens of bouncy mayhem. Made with Gamemaker

Find The Sixpence
Sixpence.zip (2005 600k)
This turd of a game was written in Blitz Basic and was my entry to a limited time coding challenge or something. Find the sixpence in the Christmas Pudding without getting touched by the mice. Gripping stuff.
Back in the day, I had a thing about creating games which didn't require any other media - sprites, sounds, etc. I'm afraid it enabled me to turn out rot like this.
Here's the source code.

Stink
Stink.zip (2005 600k)
Another game written in Blitz Basic for the above mentioned project. A simple affair of a ball that changes colour as it bounces around an enclosed screen. Your job is to ensure the borders are the same colour shade of grey when the ball bounces off of them.
Here's the source code.
As for the name, Stink, the game reminded me a bit of Pong... but worse. Hence - Stink!

Repel
My final game written with the Sam Coupe's Gamesmaster utility.
It's like Pong for one.
It appeared on Fred disk number 75 and was located at position 'F'. You'll also need the Sam Coupe emulator, Sim Coupe, to load the Fred disk. (Load Sim Coupe then open the Fred Disk, and press F9 to boot)

Jet Set Sam The Man
My final game for the Sam Coupe, created with Gamesmaster in 1995.
Roughly based on the old ZX Spectrum classic, Jet Set Willy, Sam must roam his school looking for the pages from his school report. There's only about 10 screens or so, but the navigation is rather unintuitive as to where leads to where.
There's a lot that could have been polished up here.
It appeared on Fred disk number 72 and was located at position 'E'. You'll also need the Sam Coupe emulator, Sim Coupe, to load the Fred disk.

Sam The Man
My 1995 attempt at a Manic Miner clone for the Sam Coupe.
Five screens, I think, each requiring you to collect five keys to progress to the next.
It appeared on Fred disk number 71 and was located at position 'F'. You'll also need the Sam Coupe emulator, Sim Coupe, to load the Fred disk.

Sweets For My Sweet
My first game written with the Sam Coupe's Gamesmaster utility.
It appeared on Fred disk number 65 and was located at position 'F'. You'll also need the Sam Coupe emulator, Sim Coupe, to load the Fred disk. (Load Sim Coupe then open the Fred Disk, and press F9 to boot)
